Olusesi Showunmi

Showunmi is a dynamic and results-oriented accountant with over 15 years of experience in finance and accounting leadership across education and asset management sectors. He started his career at Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers as a Fund Accountant in January 2007. It was an opportunity to supervise the daily valuation and distribution of reports of the pension/gratuity schemes to the investment management division and industry regulator, prepare the balance sheet and income statement of pension schemes on a weekly and monthly basis, and design and implement bank portfolio reconciliations for funds under management. He was eventually promoted to Head, Reconciliation & Resolution, a role he helmed for four years.

His accounting career continued at Meadow Hall Group as the Head, Accounts and Finance. He was instrumental in filing tax returns and preparing governmental reports in compliance with strict standards, analyzing monthly balance sheet accounts for corporate reporting, maintaining integrity of the general ledger, and recommending budgetary changes that drive growth of company profits, among many achievements. He became the firm’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) after four years in the previous role. As the CFO, he spearheaded the successful acquisition of a prestigious school into Meadow Hall Group and led initiatives to improve financial reporting accuracy, enhance internal controls, and optimize cash flow and revenue forecasts. He was the Co-Founder, AcademicCFO Solutions, prior to joining FIL Capital & Advisory Limited.

He was an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. He became a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria in 2023.

He earned a BSc. in Accounting (First Class Honors) in 2005 from the University of Lagos, Akoka.
